No one really knows what causes colic but biology can give us some clues.
For most babies colic is normal and goes away on its own by around 6 months of age. Interestingly this happens at the same time as when baby begins to sit up and eat solid foods. It's also when baby begins to spit up less.
This is believed to be because for some babies early in life their digestive muscles are still developing and aren't able to keep what's in the stomach from coming up. This includes food and stomach acid, the latter of which can cause irritation and discomfort for babies, known as reflux-related colic. It's even easier for the food and acid to come up when babies are on liquid diets (as most are before 6 months) and when they spend most of their time on their backs or stomachs.
Colic Gone® is designed to provide relief from the symptoms of reflux-related colic and can be used until baby outgrows colic.
